The National Treasury – Pensions Department in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working out modalities for a headcount of all pensioners living in the Diaspora. This has been announcement in a memo by the Kenyan Embassy in Washington, DC, dated April 24th, 2019.
“We wish to inform Kenyans in USA and Mexico that the National Treasury, Pensions Department in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working out modalities for the headcount of pensioners in the Diaspora and the Mission will communicate the same in due course,” reads the memo from the Embassy.
This is part of a headcount and cleansing exercise that the Pensions Department under the National Treasury has been going on at Huduma Centers in Kenya since February 11th, adds the Embassy.
The aim of the headcount exercise is to “ascertain the exact number of Kenyans who are under the public pensions scheme for budgetary allocation purposes,” says the National Treasury.
More information on the exercise for Kenyans living in the United States and Mexico will be communicated by the Embassy soon.

Serikali ya Uhuru imekopa matrillioni ya pesa lakini waliolipa kodi hawakufika hata millioni tatu. Kwanini? Nani atalipa ushuru kisha jasho yake iibiwe na watu ambao karibu mwaka mmoja baadaye, Wakenya wanazungushwa zungushwa mviringo mviringo? Idara ya kukusanya ushuru ni kama imepewa notisi ya kufanya juu chini kuhakikisha kwamba madeni ya China ambayo imetoboa mawingo imelipwa wapende wasipende. Ubalozi wa Kenya kule Washington DC yapaswa kuieleza serikali kwamba kujipenyeza katika nchi hii ya Marekani kunyemelea chochote, ni sharti wafuate sheria na kanuni zilizowekwa hapa. The so called pensioners living in US are earning more than regular cvil servants in Kenya , most of them end up babysitting our children get paid cash , no taxes to American government paid, they get sick . Simply rush to the county hospital for free treatment and when they die there is free casket and free one way flight back home ( our harambees pays everything)some even end up in nursing home for free sorry I forgot, their retirement benefits in Kenya still keep loaded in their bank accounts

What services does the Kenya government provide to it’s citizens in the diaspora? The reason that Kenyans left the country in the first is economic due to mismanagement of resources by our leaders and corruption. That corruption today is at its pick. The government does not help people in the diaspora. In order to save money, this government should close all the Kenyan embassies and leave only a part-time student to issue visas when necessary. This will provide money for the Kenyans who are going hungry. Leave the Kenyans in the diaspora alone and first put your house in order.

it beats all reasons to start counting pensioners . did they learn we are depending on the kes 2,000 state pension . since this is paid in cash from the bank tellers we are goign to fly from usa to catch a 20 USD. first we need this government stop counting of diaspora remittance we send freely for our own private use and this keeps the kes floating else we would be like argentina but we are heading there our leaders are paving the way thanks to them
