Rwanda has turned to technology to bolster its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The country’s Health Ministry has imported five robots that will be used as an interface between patients and healthcare workers in Covid-19 treatment centers.
Rwandan Health Minister Daniel Ngamije said the deployment of these robots in Covid-19 treatment facilities will reduce human contact and the risk of transmitting the virus.
The robots have been assigned Rwandan names and will be used to screen temperature, monitor status, and keep medical records of Covid-19 patients.
In addition, the machines will be deployed to public places such as bus stops and shopping malls to screen members of the public.
“The robots will be used as the interface between doctors and patients to avoid any possible human contact,” said Ngamije.
He added: “Some of the robots have already been in Rwanda and will be programmed and employed first.”
As of Monday, May 11th, there were 284 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Rwanda 140 recoveries and zero deaths.
What is this when we have…
What is this when we have such a high unemployment in Africa?
What else are those robots programmed to do? Can they be used as spies to invade people’s privacy?
How much will they cost the people of Rwanda?
What will be the cost of their maintenance ?
Why don’t you think Rwandans in solving your problems instead of inanimate objects made from abroad?
Just a thought!!
The reason for using the…
The reason for using the robots is to protect health workers and minimize their contact with possible infected persons. It’s as simple as that.We should always avoid negativity in that we see everything through negative lenses.
If the machine can reduce…
If the machine can reduce infection especially to our front line workers, there no cost that should be spared. Human life is valuable and irreplaceable. Let the robots be exposed instead of our healthcare’s workers. Rwandans you rock.
