Two Kenyan football supporters were on Wednesday presented with a lifetime chance to view the 2022/23 Champions League final.
This ultimate showdown of Europe’s premier club competition will feature English Premier League champions Manchester City pitted against Italian powerhouses Inter Milan. Manchester City have yet to secure a Champions League title, while Inter Milan’s most recent victory was in 2010, led by Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho. Maranga and Jaison Jose were honoured on Wednesday after bagging two tickets courtesy of MasterCard and Vivo Energy Kenya.
Vivo Energy Kenya managing director Peter Murungi, and Shehryar Ali, East Africa Country Manager for MasterCard, were present as the duo were feted at Shell Petrol Station in Hurlingham. Although Jose is not a football enthusiast, he has seen Brazilian giants Corinthians play before so he will still appreciate the opportunity.
Vivo Marketing Manager Mark Senteu reported that 30,000 people participated in the promotion requiring them to pay with a cashless MasterCard. The two winners were determined through a random drawing. Murungi touted the collaboration between Vivo and MasterCard, noting that they will collaborate on further projects to give football supporters an opportunity to attend high-octane matches overseas. The two will enjoy an all-expense paid trip, three days of accommodation and Category A tickets.
“The two winners announced today will embark on an extraordinary journey to witness the Uefa Champions League final in Istanbul, experiencing first-hand the power of football to unite and inspire. This campaign has allowed us to engage with our customers in a meaningful way and offer them unforgettable experiences that go beyond their everyday transactions,” said Murungi.
