Second Lady Dorcas Rigathi has urged teachers to speak against homosexuality, which is taking root in the country.
Mrs. Rigathi warned teachers that remaining silent on the issue of same-sex relationships would be detrimental to the country and the values held by Kenyans.
“Teachers know what our children are undergoing in schools. There is homosexuality and lesbianism in schools, but we do not want to speak against it so we can look good, but when we allow this, we lose a generation,” said Mrs. Rigathi, who is a pastor and trained teacher.
Addressing a teachers’ conference at Chania Girls High School in Thika on Friday, the second lady said teachers must remain vigilant in equipping the thousands of children in the country with the right values.
“As teachers, you are highly privileged because of the many hours in your day available to influence the minds of thousands of children in Kenya,” she said.
“The teaching fraternity can define our morality and moral compass. Teachers are transforming agents through the words they speak to the children.”
The conference that brought together teachers who double up as chaplains in their respective schools set in motion Mrs. Rigathi’s agenda for the nation ahead of the launch of the Strategic Framework for the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President (OSDP) in February.
The OSDP Strategic Framework comprises five pillars that seek to transform the lives of the boy child, orphans, widows, chaplains, and most vulnerable populations to give them a dignified future.

The teachers have a part to play in shaping society but Mrs. Gachagua, the home is the cradle of all good morals and values. It’s too much asking teachers to take all the work that is supposed to be done by parents. The church used to teach and check our behavior and character. I personally am I a product of my parents and my church as far as conduct in general is concerned. I remember my teachers as mentors and sources of information not as morality-formers. Unfortunately homes are crumbling and the church is about money and riches. The church has become “a den of robbers” and not “the house of my Father”. Our interest is money, power, and prosperity. We have stopped teaching morals and values because we don’t want to lose members. We no longer talk about sin. Our sermons are more of drama, feel good type, and not about our sin filled lifestyles. Do not burden teachers. Wake up the parents and the faith communities to do their part. Unless the whole village rises, we are fighting a failed battle.

Our system of education is a fertile ground for homosexuality to thrive if introduced,(there is no scientific finding that anybody was born a homo). All our best high schools are boys/girls boarding. How are parents going to teach morality to children gone nine months a year during their formative years.

To me the pressing issue is gender based violence.In the past few months we have read quite afew cases of boyfriends brutally killing their girlfriends.I hope nobody would argue that these boyfriends did not chose to kill their girlfriends.
But when it comes to homosexuality,the issue of choise it very controversial.My position is,if it is a choice,mindful of the negative consequence and risks attached to that choise,why would any one choose to be gay,when its much safer to choose being heterosexual…?
Iam confident that my religion SCIENCE will eventually give us adefinite and conclusive answer to this quandary.
Till then, we should live and let live. Let’s be tolerant and accepting knowing that their will always be gays amongst us,and that they will never over run heteresexuals.So the risk on human procreation is not under threat.
My advise to gays is that, keep it in the bedroom.Kenyans are not ready to see you canoodling in the open.
And to Mrs.Rigathi, I hope that you will teach our girls on how to work hard, avoid being sugar babies,dressing modestly,and respecting the elders.Oohh,and learn how to cook for their potential husbands-an art that is quicly disappearing.And of course if he is worth cooking for.

I am not a proponent of the gay life and neither am I opposed to it as long as no one tries to impose their sexual orientation on me or my children.
