Kenyans online camped at Melinda Gates’ Twitter handle after she posted a photo of her meeting with President Kenyatta on Wednesday.
Gates, who is in Nairobi to attend the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD+25), held talks with Uhuru at State House, Nairobi.
“Thank you, President Kenyatta, for hosting #ICPD25 and for the great progress Kenya has made to increase access to family planning for women and girls,” Gates captioned the picture.
The tweet attracted the attention of KOT, with many asking the American philanthropist not to agree to any request for a loan from the Kenyan president.
Kenyans-online and offline- are concerned with the country’s ballooning public debt that recently crossed the Sh6 trillion mark, according to reports by local media.
Kenyatta administration’s appetite for loans is expected to increase after the bicameral parliament recently voted to raise the country’s debt ceiling to Sh9 trillion.
Here are some of the reactions from KOT;
@OlareJb said: “Please don’t sign any loan if he requests.”
