Kenyan Media Personality Willis Raburu Undergoes Gastric Bypass Surgery to Lose Weight

Kenyan media personality Willis Raburu has disclosed that he underwent gastric bypass surgery in his bid to lose weight.

Raburu, who has been documenting his weight loss journey for some time, admitted that hitting the gym did not work out despite working with good fitness trainers.

As a result, the Citizen TV presenter says he chose to undergo the Sh900,000 procedure at Nairobi Bariatric Hospital as it offers a long-lasting solution in his quest for fitness.

“I did it at Nairobi Bariatric and enjoying the process,” said Raburu.

He added: “I would like to debunk the fact that weight loss treatment is like almost taboo in this country yet it’s so effective. And insurance companies can help facilitate it, it’s a journey towards a healthier nation.”

The 35-year-old ‘10 over 10′ show host says gastric bypass surgery is more effective as it helps reduce the amount of food that one consumes.

“I respect people who go to the gym, it really is a lot of work. I would lose weight, and at times I would gain some weight so by the time I was going for the surgery I was not doing well,” he said.

Before he went for the surgery, Raburu revealed that he was weighing 164 kilograms, leading to health complications like high blood pressure.

“I used to eat more than six chapattis and visit KFC regularly. But now I don’t eat much. I know this is a lasting solution. My pressure and cholesterol were very high. My health was at stake and I needed to take care of myself before it was too late,” he said.

Gastric bypass is a type of weight-loss surgery that involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly to the small intestine.

This particular procedure has very bad gastric symptoms like continuous diarrhea and nausea/vomiting. He looks like he would have benefit from diet change and regular exercise.
All the best to him though.

Abato, and not forgetting if he eats too much he risks gastric leak which can present as peritonitis, abscesses, cutaneous or other fistulas, sepsis, organ failure and even ?—6 feet under. Oh, he also forgot to tell us he will be on supplements for the rest of his life. Surgery is a quick fix but not a long term solution. He is telling us what he wants us to believe but this is a band aid to kidonda ndugu

Remember those kids in high school who had “kitambi”? Always from well to do fams and were dropped off in top of the range SUVs.

And now our middle class has expanded, everyone taking their kids to private schools where they dine unlike in the past when we simply “ate” whatever school officials saw fit.

The stomach size is set in those early years, for older generations we have smaller stomachs and less cravings. But for younger generations who grew up with “everything” they desired, their stomachs are bigger that’s why raburu could drown all those chapatis.

Granted, there’s genetic and medical obesity but overall it’s about upbringing. Never overfeed the young as a parent or school authority, otherwise you are damaging them by expanding the size of the youngster’s stomach and they’ll need GBYpASS like this personality whom I happen to admire.

Quick fix is okay, but discipline is key.
Going to the gymnasium works ,if you have discipline.
No one gets obese in a day,so you shouldn’t expect to lose weight in a day.
But we all want something yesterday not today.
