President William Ruto has nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the new Cabinet Secretary for East African Community and Regional Development.

This is according to an announcement by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei. This nomination has been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration and approval in accordance with Kenya’s constitutional requirements. Moe’s nomination follows the recent dismissal of several Cabinet Secretaries including Peninah Malonza who previously held this position. Beatrice Askul Moe brings a wealth of experience in public service and community development to her potential new role.

She previously served as the County Executive Committee Member responsible for Water, Irrigation, Agriculture, and Land Reclamation in the Turkana County Government. During her tenure, Moe made significant contributions to addressing critical issues such as water scarcity and food security in the region. Moe has held key positions in various organizations, including serving as a Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board where she chaired both the Technical Committee and the Audit Committee. Her leadership in these roles was instrumental in improving water services and governance in the Rift Valley region.

Moe’s experience also encompasses work in the non-governmental sector having served as a Project Officer for the AMREF Kenya Turkana Project and as a Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program. Her work with these organizations demonstrated her commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable populations through sustainable development initiatives. To enhance her skills and knowledge, Moe has undertaken various certifications and training programs. She completed a County Induction Course at the Kenya School of Government and has received training in Corporate Governance while serving on the Rift Valley Water Services Board.

Additionally, she has undergone training on Audit Committees from KCA University and completed a Training of Trainers Course for Community-based Development with AMREF Kenya. Academically, Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science with a focus on Social Work from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Governance and Ethics. President William Ruto has also nominated Dorcas Odour for the position of Attorney General, replacing Justin Muturi who is set to become Public Service Cabinet Secretary. This nomination is part of a larger Cabinet reshuffle, which includes the reassignment of Rebecca Miano to the Tourism ministry.

Odour currently serves as the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions. She holds a Master’s degree in International Conflict Management and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. Odour is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with significant experience in public prosecution.
