President Ruto Dissolves Entire Cabinet After Anti-Government Protests
President William Ruto

President William Ruto has dismissed all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General with the exception of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

This decision, made under the constitutional powers vested in his office, reflects the President’s recognition of the need for a comprehensive reassessment of his Cabinet’s performance and the challenges facing his administration. During a televised address today, President Ruto announced that government operations would continue under the leadership of Principal Secretaries and other relevant officials until a new Cabinet is formed. He expressed his intention to involve a broader range of political stakeholders in rebuilding his administration. This suggests a potential shift towards a more inclusive political arrangement that may incorporate members of the opposition including the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by Raila Odinga.

This bold move by President Ruto demonstrates his commitment to addressing the concerns of the Kenyan people and reshaping his administration to better serve the nation’s needs. The President is considering the establishment of a “government of national unity” by including opposition figures in his administration, a strategy aimed at resolving the current political crisis that has been fueled by protesting youth demanding significant changes within the government.

Kenya has previous experience with such unity governments with a notable example having occurred when the late President Mwai Kibaki, following his loss in the 2005 referendum, dismissed his entire cabinet. Two weeks later, he reconstituted the cabinet, notably excluding Raila Odinga and members of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). In his address to the nation at that time, President Kibaki emphasized the need for a more cohesive government capable of better serving the Kenyan people. He announced the immediate vacancy of all ministerial and assistant ministerial positions and outlined his plans for extensive discussions with various sectors and political groups.

Several former Cabinet Secretaries have taken to social media to express their gratitude to President Ruto for the opportunity to serve the nation. Soipan Tuya, who held the Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry portfolio, acknowledged her groundbreaking role as the first woman Cabinet Secretary from the Maa community. During her 21-month tenure, Tuya championed environmental conservation and climate resilience, pledging to leverage her experience to create opportunities for women and girls in her community. Aisha Jumwa, who oversaw the Gender, Culture, Arts, and Heritage docket, conveys her honour in serving under President Ruto’s leadership.

Similarly, former Labour CS Florence Bore has expressed profound gratitude for the chance to serve the Kenyan people, acknowledging President Ruto’s mentorship and trust. Simon Chelugui, who headed the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME Development, has thanked President Ruto for his faith and trust. Chelugui’s role was crucial in supporting cooperative societies, housing, transport, and investment sectors. Former Defence CS Aden Duale has praised President Ruto for granting him the historic opportunity to serve as the first Defence CS under the Kenya Kwanza regime.

Ndugu yetu Samoei Cherop Ruto should dismiss himself by resigning and going back to Sugoi. This is the best gift that he can give to the people of Kenya.

Ruto is displaying signs of desparation how long will the center hold?
Hongera Generation Z congratulations never thought I would see real change in my lifetime .

  5. All fired CS have expressed…
All fired CS have expressed gratitude. To me it sounds like something scripted for them. They are too shocked to sound benevolent…This move has definitely toned down the clamor for Dr.Ruto to step down. However,he is still not out of the woodworks yet.
Had he been doing his work effectively, this firing would not have occurred en mass.Nonetheless many are glad that it did happen.
Now who fills this slots is the next crucial step toward solidifying his shaky throne. It is also important to note that ,It would be gross insult to the masses if those fired are merely shifted to other CS slots,or other lucrative jobs, merely to appease them, and count on their votes.
The resounding common thread through all of them is that they are corrupt.
Dr.Ruto said that this move to fire your cabinet was largely as aresult of listening to the masses, and GEN Z in particular. The masses have always said you are corrupt, and the corruption extends to all your cabinet. Dr., I ask, what is so hard about filling 22 slots with people of honor, integrity, and ethics? Surely out of 56 million Kenyans this should not be a problem, mindful that we have many Kenyans who are over qualified and have more experience that those you just fired.
When Transparency International, year after year ranks the police force in Kenya as the most corrupt entity in the country, how come you never act.You called the chief commissioner of police,” the most incompetent in the whole world” He is still there I think…We will see change when police stop taking bribes, and dutifully start serving wananchi who pays for those services.
Masses have also begged to please do away with Salary and Remuneration Commission, along with its corrupt sister the Integrity and Ethics Commission. And I concur.
Dr., you have alot on your plate. The good news is that you do not need the wisdom of Solomon to clear your plate. Solutions could be found in the most unlikely places like this Forum called-MWAKILISHI.Clarion call on this forum has been hard not to notice. Their voices echo those of GEN Z, but You chose to ignore.See what happened?Bottom line you chose to ignore the masses, and chose to listen to those spoiled ostentatious, pompous and overly paid thieves who are best known for their opulent and lavish life style,at the expense of payers.
PLEASE REPLACE THEM WITH THOSE WHO WILL BE KNOWN FOR PUTTING THEIR CITIZENS FIRST,AND DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISES.Otherwise the blood shed during these protests would be in vain.My two cents.

Mudavadi is a ghost worker. There is no office of Prime Cabinet Secretary in the constitution. He needs to be fired like yesterday.

  8. I just learned that Gen Z…
I just learned that Gen Z has given Dr. Ruto a list which stipulates and highlights qualifications needed for the new cabinet’s formation.I shall repeat two demands that those who read my posts on this forum may recall me mentioning, and that is(a)”the incoming new cabinet must agree to afixed salary” I am not going to say the idea came from here, granted that it’s possible…However, it’s not hard for any reasonable Kenyan of a sound mind to come up with the requirements for any CS of which among other conditions would ,include integrity, honesty, and”crime free reputation”.
    (b) the ages cabinet members- must be between ages of 25 and 60.In my post I just said’We must get rid of deadwoods and replace them with new blood’.
Folks, that’s why I said in my last post that solutions to Kenya’s problems could be found in the most unlikely places as this forum-MWAKILISHI,but then again we shouldn’t be surprised,we have some good suggestions on this forum for various topics. If we could only tone down insults and amplify respect;of course within the framework of free speech. My two cents…again.

  10. Last year, 75 people were…
Last year, 75 people were massacred by the police just for demonstrating. This year, according to the figures reported, about 41 people were killed by the same corrupt, inefficient, and incompetent police officers.

Samoei, honestly you need to resign immediately. Why? You claim to belong to a religious (Jewish) cult where killing is forbidden. Do you remember what happened in Kiambaa Church near Eldoret where between 30 and 35 people perished in church after it was set on fire? So far, no one has been arrested or prosecuted for an event that happened on Tuesday, January 01, 2008.
Lying is strictly prohibited and yet you have repeatedly lied as if that is not of the the 10 commandments of the same deity. Stealing is again prohibited and yet it has been normalized and legalized by your government.
Having extra-marital relationships is forbidden and yet you sired a daughter when you were legally married and going to church every Sunday.
The late Mpilo Tutu of South COHO once said, “If you are silent in situations of injustice, you have taken the side of the oppressor.”
I kindly ask you to compensate all the people who have been killed since you became the head of state almost two years ago from your personal savings but not from the treasury.
It is time now to M.K.A.P.A. – Make Kenya A Paradise Again.

    • Seen that you just woke up…
Seen that you just woke up this morning of all days. And you just remembered the Eldoret church massacre. What followed after? What happens to Yala and Aberdare etc killings ground body disposals? Is that also forgotten? Or was it just a convenient killings at the time? And this just happened the other day . And we saw how it happened. Goons of destruction defying and looting others property. Or burning down buildings.
Corruption in Kenya is perpetuated and strongly influenced and engineered by Kenyans themselves. And as much I want to agree that the people serving us are in most times
Remember there’s no government in the world that has ever had 100% supporters. And not every Tom and Jerry are going to a country’s leader.

  11. Kenya is made up of 70…
Kenya is made up of 70 distinct micro nations.
The choice of cabinet ministers should reflect the true identity of the people of Kenya. Two micro nations should never take 2/3 of all positions in the country.
Swahili language should be used in public meetings, offices, and especially in the People’s parliament.
Our late national hero Wangari Maathai substituted the colonial hackneyed word “tribe” and gave us a more objective, sensitive, and neutral term “micro nation.” Let’s make an effort to change negative colonial lexical terms and start thinking positive in everything that we do and say.
As the late president of Tanzania once said, “It can be done, play your part.”
