The upcoming Limuru III meeting, a socio-economic and political gathering for the Mt Kenya region, has ignited a heated debate across the political spectrum.

The event, scheduled for Friday, aims to bring together political leaders from the area to address critical matters affecting the region including internal disputes among its leaders. At the center of the controversy lies Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria who has recently joined the list of organizers for the event. Kuria has leveled serious allegations against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accusing him of orchestrating efforts to exclude him from the meeting. Although Kuria has not explicitly mentioned Gachagua’s name, his description leaves little doubt that he is referring to the Deputy President.

According to Kuria’s claims, a powerful individual with prior experience in provincial administration, widely believed to be Gachagua, is financing Limuru 3 and has instructed co-convenor Jeremiah Kioni to bar Kuria’s attendance. Kuria further alleges that the event is being organized by individuals associated with the opposition coalition Azimio, including Martha Karua, Jeremiah Kioni, and former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi. While the organizers have emphasized that the meeting is open to all, regardless of their affiliations or government positions, Kuria reveals that Kioni had informed him that he was unwelcome at Limuru 3.

Kuria, who considers himself the senior-most politician in Kiambu, has called on his constituents to boycott the conference until it is properly convened by competent community structures. Kuria’s stance reflects his belief that Limuru 3 is a respected community event and should not become a venue for confrontation or exclusion. He has emphasized the importance of preserving the integrity and purpose of the gathering which is to foster unity and address the region’s pressing issues.

The allegations and counter-claims surrounding Limuru 3 have sparked heated debates and further highlighted the divisions within the political landscape of the Mt Kenya region.

Mrs Moses Kuria is the worst traitor of them all. He does not know when to go or when to come. Limuru 3 is a meeting of Mount Kenya adults and not Tads like Kuria are allowed to attend. Kuria will be in the cold come 2027.
