The United States Department of Defense has put forth a proposal to Congress advocating for an expanded role for its special operations forces.

Traditionally focused on counterterrorism, border security, and counternarcotics operations, these elite units would now engage in resistance and foreign internal defence missions under the proposed changes. Kenya serves as a prominent case study in this proposal. While Kenya’s conventional and special operations capabilities are growing, its security infrastructure remains vulnerable to corruption, subversion, lawlessness, terrorism, and the spectre of civil unrest. The Pentagon stresses the urgency of addressing these challenges.

“Kenya is a prime example as their conventional and [Special Operations Force] units are growing in capacity, but their security infrastructure and institutional pillars are vulnerable to corruption, subversion, lawlessness, terrorism and civil war,” notes the proposal by the Pentagon.

As part of this initiative, the US government has committed Sh13 billion in aid to support Kenya’s deployment of police forces to Haiti where they will contribute to peacekeeping efforts. However, the project faces delays due to incomplete construction of a base to house the officers. The official deployment date is set for May 23, 2024. Moreover, the Pentagon has expressed concern over security dynamics in Scandinavian and Baltic countries, highlighting the risk of Russian influence in the region. Through partnerships with these nations, special operations authorities aim to mitigate this threat and bolster regional stability.

Congress will review the proposed legislative changes in the coming weeks which could pave the way for expanded special operations missions. Concurrently, an initial group of 200 Kenyan police officers will soon depart for Haiti with additional contingents to follow in subsequent weeks. Officers from Benin have also pledged their support.

As sent to 1st District Representative:

Please stop Representative (Mass. 1st District) Richard Neal’s Misguided effort of inviting Kenya’s president Ruto to speak to the US Congress.

As a Kenyan and tax-payer in Massachussetts, I find this ill-advised. If what is alleged is true, and his office makes it happen, your actions and the US Congress will be endorsing a corrupt regime that kills its citizens daily, while engaged in propaganda machinery to potray Kenya as a successful country. Right now Ruto is eyeing the millions of $$$ he will get from Biden for sacrificing Kenyans in Haiti. Do you know how Kenyan police officers live? Their housing? It is worse than dogs. And all the money he will collect, is preserved for his campaign. How would you like for such a corrupt person to send your child to a lawless country? You may not know Kenyans, or do no have close ties, but don’t send them to an unnecessary slaughter.

Kenya is far from even being mid-successful. Since his presidency, corruption has worsened, services stopped, and yet to those who do not live in Kenya, he is a ‘brilliant’ president because he has great oratory skills. Take your time to research President Ruto. If you are comfortable with a president who will whip and beat up school children to grab their property, then have him in the US congress. We will recall you as the Americans who endorsed a president that subjected Kenyans to poverty and massive corruption. Here is a link to start you off.

They are being sacrificed by Ruto and his thugs. Not only do they not have the sophisticated weapons to counter those smuggled to Haiti from the US they lack something called experience that cannot be taught and is only acquired with time.In Kenya we have been lucky not to have war or coups all over the place .It is one thing to “volunteer “ but those Haitians will not care these people look like them .They will be seen as foreigners who have no business in their country they will surely get slaughtered like flies
