University Student Found Murdered in Thika, Investigation Launched

The lifeless body of a 19-year-old Mount Kenya University student Faith Musembi was today discovered in her rented room at Pilot Estate.

This was after her family received chilling ransom demands via her phone. Despite complying with initial demands, Faith’s abductors withheld her release and continued to extort money from the distraught family. Deeply concerned by the lack of urgency from Thika West Police Station, Faith’s father took matters into his own hands. Rushing to the university, he tragically found his daughter deceased upon breaking into her residence.

“Her mother in response to the kidnapper through a text message said, ‘I command and speak protection upon my daughter in the mighty name of Jesus’, but the kidnapper replied saying, ‘Amen, fail to send the money and your command will be mere words,” said Mr Musembi.

Police have since launched a full investigation into the murder. The discovery of disturbing messages sent by the perpetrator, hinting at the family’s failure to follow instructions, paints a horrifying picture of the events leading to Faith’s demise. A post-mortem examination revealed she died from excessive bleeding, with an additional revelation that she was pregnant at the time of the murder. This heartbreaking detail adds further weight to the urgency surrounding the investigation.

“I blame Thika police officers of laxity, should they have acted swiftly, they’d have saved my daughter from her killers. Her phone which her suspected killers were using has not been switched off until now,” said Musembi.
