The groom involved in a controversial situation with his potential bride in Bomet has officially cancelled the wedding and put an end to their love story, squashing their planned union before it could be solemnized.
Mr Amos Rono and Ms Nelly Chepkoech Koskei are ending their relationship following overwhelming pressure and undisclosed underlying factors. The circumstances surrounding their separation are unverifiable and thus omitted for legal reasons. Mistrust between the two compounded by social media commotion, intrusive commentary, and interference from their inner circle has collectively pushed the young couple to their breaking point.
On Saturday, the wedding was cancelled unexpectedly, leading to a flurry of unfounded claims and counterclaims. Some of these allegations remain undisclosed to the public, heightening the speculation that continues to grow with each passing day. Earlier, Ms Koskei clarified that the wedding had not been called off, despite rumours suggesting otherwise. Contrary to rumours, Ms Koskei confirmed that the wedding was still on and expressed her enthusiasm for marrying her partner and beginning a family.
Recent information has unveiled that the couple had been together for a year and had diligently arranged their wedding for two months, fulfilling all the church’s requirements. Surprisingly, Mr Rono has now declared that he is setting Ms Koskei free to seek love and companionship elsewhere and potentially start a family. Pastor Clement Chalulot of Kapsoyo AGC Church, scheduled to be presiding over the event, had shared that new dates were being considered by the families.
Ms Koskei and her father, Reverend Charles Koskei of AGC in Chebirbelek, Sotik, wanted it to be known that the postponement was out of their hands. They explained that they were notified by the clergy that the technicalities of the ceremony require a rescheduled date in the future. Reverend Koskei, who had been summoned to address the issue, assured everyone that the problems surrounding the wedding would be resolved. He urged the public to disregard any rumours spreading on social media.
Surrounded by his family, Mr Rono addressed the press, guarded and cautious in his responses. His loved ones shielded him from certain questions, opting to keep certain aspects of the situation private. The careful selection of his words reveals the complex undertones surrounding the story. Allegedly, a total of Sh300,000 had been gathered for the wedding expenses, yet only Sh50,000 had been utilized before the cancellation occurred on Thursday.
“I have to take time off. I have to cool off before making another move. That (decision) certainly will not be coming soon. I have to heal, I have to be in a position where I can make sound decisions so I do not find myself in a similar or worse situation,” Says Mr Rono.
