Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has expressed his confidence and pride in his accomplishments during his tenure at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
In his Tuesday address at the NSSF Building during the transition of the Trade Ministry to Rebecca Miano, Kuria emphasized his satisfactory performance during the eleven months in his position. He elaborated on his success in reorganizing the ministry’s functions and instilling it with a renewed sense of purpose. Kuria addressed the previous economic setbacks with the stalling of production, stagnant exports, and trade deficits. At the same time, he assured everyone that he had put together a capable team that would continue to advance his initiatives. Kuria disclosed having advised Miano to prioritize domestic manufacturing and discourage the importation of goods that could be produced within the country.
Miano has won Kuria’s complete trust to carry on with the work that he initiated. On her part, Miano conveyed sincere appreciation for the chance to function as a Cabinet Secretary and emphasized her unwavering obligation to her role. During her remarks, Miano mentioned that Kuria had briefed her on his plans for the ministry and went on to say that she looks forward to collaborating with the steadfast team Kuria leaves behind. She praised the team’s qualifications and expressed her optimism that, with their support, they can bring the country to new heights.
In a statement last week, Kuria highlighted his successes during his tenure at the Trade docket which spanned almost a year. President Ruto’s recent cabinet reshuffle saw him transition to a new ministry, spurring Kuria to divulge his proudest achievements on X. These include spearheading the foundation of industrial parks in 13 counties and negotiating the crucial Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union.
Additionally, he successfully implemented the exports and promotion levy to discourage excessive imports and fostered a pipeline of 26 significant deals with the Gulf region and Indonesia. Furthermore, Kuria’s accomplishments extended to securing a substantial Sh450 Billion investment from Afriexim Bank in E-Mobility, Special Economic Zones, and Export Processing Zones.
There is something Paul…
There is something Paul Kagame of Rwanda realized a long time ago that successive regimes in Kenya have failed to note. You do not have to woo investors, they will come to you if all the right conditions are in place; (1) political stability, (2) functional social institutions, (3) ease of doing business, (4) dependable energy such as electricity, government officials who do not interfere with investors as long as they are not violating any criminal and labor laws, and good infrastructures plus clean environments. Which of those do we have right in Kenya? Kagame is one hell of a statesman.

Kuria – stop the high horse…
Kuria – stop the high horse nonsensical talk of praising yourself just to have a Dr feel good moment. Your performance was duduli squat and there is nothing out there to prove you did anything worth mentioning. Your biggest enemy is your smelly mouth – you got a hugely big mouth and you talk too much! Mostly what you talk is pure nonsense! Please stop chest thumping and do some work for once in your damn life.
