Jubilee party leaders allied with former President Uhuru Kenyatta have conveyed that the National Delegates Conference(NDC) will continue according to plan.
Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni who is fighting over the position with EALA MP Kanini Kega called on members to avoid rumours of cancellation of NDC. In a meeting to plan for the event, retired president Uhuru Kenyatta managed to bring together county chairpersons alongside Vice-chair David Murathe. Mr Kioni will be chairing the meeting with Uhuru’s arrival expected to endorse the issues agreed upon.
“I will be chairing the meeting and he (Uhuru) will only be coming to endorse what we have agreed on. This is not a matter of Uhuru Kenyatta, it is the members and that is why we a saying let us fight for it,” said Kioni.
During the strategic meeting ahead of NDC, Murathe called on members wishful of any candidacy to attend the Bomas meeting. Kioni has in the recent past been involved in a tussle to maintain his position in the party against efforts to oust him. Nominated MP Sabina Chege has fronted herself as the party leader to replace Uhuru. This comes amid Uhuru’s 21-day notice of the special meeting scheduled for Bomas on 22 May.
However, former nominated MP Hassan Osman has moved to court to derail the 22nd May meeting saying that Uhuru contradicted the constitution.
