Opposition leader Raila Odinga has said that Ruto’s administration intends to treat beauty as unnecessary extra indulgence.
Raila’s statement comes as a confrontation to the Finance Bill, 2023, which proposes an increase in taxes on beauty products like wigs and eyelashes from Sh0.6 to Sh2.5 per stamp. The Azimio leader praised the beauty industry for employing many Kenyans who would otherwise remain unemployed. He issued his statement on Monday while at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, Nairobi.
“Beauty industry has become a major employer, particularly of our youth and women who have been unable to find work elsewhere,” he said.
Mr Odinga has criticised Ruto for interrupting the earnings of hustlers, a section which Ruto targeted in his 2022 Presidential election campaigns. Raila stated that they will purpose to see the Bill yield. Also, he called upon Kenyans to go through the bill for a comprehensive understanding.
“We disagree, it shall not pass,” he declared.
The Azimio leader said that he has instructed Azimio MPs to negate the tax proposal presented by the bill. Raila has warned that the Bill will suppress Kenyans through the biting taxes fronted. He termed the Bill as a punishment to Kenyans, a tightrope that will strangle hustlers to financial instability.
“The Tsunami of taxes in that Bill will bury everyone, especially the jobless youth and the poor struggling down at the bottom. The Bill is a promissory note to strangle and suffocate the hustlers that Ruto promised to remove the rope from their necks,” Raila said.
The Bill tabled in Parliament has fronted a 5% tax on beauty products in a desperate move to fund Sh 6 trillion 2023/24 Budget.
In the US that is is called…
In the US that is is called the pink tax. Women products especially hizo ziko na rangi ya pink are like x2 of mens products, hence the name. Nowadays women are opting for mens products like deodorant, shaving cream, razor blades etc. Others have even decided to boycott all those products altogether and are making their own natural products from local ingredients.
This is a great observation…
This is a great observation for someone who spend every weekend rooting the small businesses of mama mboga. While Ruto is employing billionaires, Azimio has disrupted every opportunity the hustlers have of getting food on the table.
I am still upset with Wafula…
I am still upset with Wafula Chebukati for not reading Chapter 6 of our New Kenyan Constitution properly and clearing candidates like Raila and Samoei to vie for the highest office of the land as a president of the nation. These two people have many live, deadly, and dangerous skeletons rattling in their closets.
Kenyans should start preparing for the 2027 presidential elections by electing a national leader possessing wisdom, honor, integrity, and the ability to include all Kenyan micro nations in building the nation together without taking into account one’s religious affiliation, gender, micro nation, sexual orientation, or wealth.
This new president (2027) will steer the nation from its current dangerous religious, economic, and cultural path that Samoei has chosen, but to an endless economic prosperity where the sky will be the limit. This will be accomplished by lowering taxes and thereby creating an amazing and genuine positive atmosphere for job creations like what the USA has already accomplished.
Many people are making an effort to migrate to the USA, not because of its clean air or excellent weather and food, but to its many opportunities readily available after graduating from college and thereafter getting excellent job opportunities.
We need a president who will create an atmosphere of 24/7 security, free from nepotism and corruption.
At the moment, senior job appointments and allocations are confined to only two micro nations of Kenya. An outsider examining these appointments, will quickly come to a sad and false conclusion the nation is composed of only two micro nations. However, that is not the case! Kenya is composed of 70 distinct micro nations.
By working together, we will make Samoei a one-time president like the former president of the USA (Donald Trump) who lost the election after serving the nation for only one term in office.
Let us all work together as one nation without thinking of our current myopic, short-sighted irrational political parties (ODM-Azimio, Jubilee, and UDA) and ideologies that are currently leading the nation to the top of a cliff.

About 10 years ago,I faced…
About 10 years ago,I faced the wrath from some Kenyans in the US including some most educated ones and my relatives for agreeing with a medical research about mental illness. They called me all sorts of names for bringing fake news.It reveled that 30% of Kenyans had mental illness. But I hate back by reminding them that 6m.HUNGRY billionaire Kenyans voted YES to the most expensive katiba in the world.Only a mad person can create 48 governments including 49 parliaments yet he/she was struggling with one.Only a mad person can agree to create four thousand billionaires/millionaires yet food is luxury to him/her and her children.Did you know OP/Bunge and City Hall are 500m.apart but two governments funded by Kenyans.I wish bloody(as some corrupt idiots will resist)revolution was today to remove this heavy laggage from these fools.
