Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has allocated roles for the three newly-appointed Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) in his ministry.

The three, Millicent Omanga, Samuel Ole Tunai, and Mohamud Saleh will head different departments in the Interior Ministry to aid in the effective delivery of services, Kindiki said in a statement on Monday.

Omanga, a former nominated senator, was assigned to State Department for Immigration & Citizen Services which is in charge of reforms in the Civil Registration Services (CRS), the National Registration Bureau (NRB), and the Department of Refugee Affairs (DRA).

Tunai, a former Governor of Narok County, will lead the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration while Mohamud Saleh will oversight the State Department for Correctional Services, which is in charge of reforms in the Kenya Prisons Service (KPS), Borstal Institutions and the Probation Department.

Kindiki clarified that the allocations are subject to the outcome of the ongoing case challenging the appointment of 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries by President Ruto.

On Friday, the High Court barred the CAS appointees from assuming office until the case filed by the Law Society of Kenya and Katiba Institute is heard and determined.

The court also barred the CASs from earning a salary, remuneration, and any benefit pending the conclusion of the case.

The case will be mentioned on March 28th for further directions.

The petition came a day after the 50 CAS were sworn in office at a ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.
