Gachagua Says Azimio Protests Have Cost the Country Sh2 Billion

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has castigated the opposition over the ongoing anti-government protests, claiming they have cost the country at least Sh2 billion in one day.

Speaking in Mombasa on Monday, Gachagua said several businesses in Nairobi’s central business district remained closed on Monday for fear of looting and destruction of property.

“Having considered what happened in Kisumu, where the Azimio people looted tents, chairs and food and Azimio people were threatening business people not to open by threatening that they will loot their wares,” Gachagua said.

“As a result, this morning because of the lack of business in the CBD, the country has lost almost Sh2 billion shillings in terms of business and this is money that should have been circulating in the economy.”

The deputy president appealed to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leaders led by Raila Odinga to call off the demonstrations for the sake of the country’s economy.

“The economy had begun showing signs of recovery and we were getting a lot of affirmation from financial players and no other partners but the events that are being organized by the opposition is not good for business,” he said.

“It’s not good for the economy and we want to ask the organizers to consider calling off the mayhem and the chaos so that those that did not open up their businesses and shops can go back to work this afternoon.”

Odinga called for countrywide protests to “reclaim” their victory in the August 9th, 2022 general election and compel the government to lower the cost of living, among other demands.

  1. How could Rigathi be elected…
How could Rigathi be elected vice president of Kenya? This man is a product of Toroitich’s sycophantic mantra “Tawala Kenya Tawala!” He is Not fit for any public elective office. Sad!

  2. There are signs of peace…
There are signs of peace rooming in the country. Spiritual revival.
Raila and his crowns are afraid of peace. In a peaceful environment, everything stolen in darkness will come to light and wii be restored to its rightful owners.
This will eventually takes place, only because it’s time.

Raila is a mad man – a crown in a theater.
We have seen Raila pose as an Apostle in church wearing church gowns to mock God. ( In a church theatre)- No wonder those churches are no longer being taken seriously because they will allow anyone including political criminal to pose with their church gowns.
We have seen Raila wear military attire, claiming he will attempt the 1982 coup on Ruto’s government.
Raila is misleading young adults, wasting their time, having done nothing in his home ground.
We are in a new season and all Raila’s attempts will fail.
Raila’s time is up- Kenyans will die for him but this time nothing will be achieved by those deaths- Just as it happened in the 1982 coup.
Let us keep watching this space, if Raila can’t rule the country, he will try to destroy it.
    This will not work either!!

    • No Kenyan has ever died for…
No Kenyan has ever died for Raila.

Those Kenyans who die in protests die fighting & defending their personal rights & freedoms.

  3. Sh2 Billion? No problem…
Sh2 Billion? No problem. Kachagua will go to Karura forest to pray about the loss and his boss will summon the magic powers of Koitalel and all will be okay at the Kenyan front.
