Kenya Power on Saturday evening announced a power outage affecting most parts of the country.
In a statement, the State-owned power distributor said the blackout was caused by what it termed “a system disturbance.”
“We have lost bulk power supply to various parts of the country due to a system disturbance,” reads part of the statement.
In a second update, Kenya Power attributed the outage to a fault that occurred on the Suswa-Loyangalani high-voltage transmission line.
Kenya Power further said it has since restored power in parts of Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu and operations are underway to restore normalcy in other parts of the country.
“We are glad to report that we have restored power supply to parts of Eldoret, Kisumu and Nakuru. We are working to restore normalcy in other areas as soon as possible. We thank our customers for their patience as we continue with the restoration exercise,” the statement reads in parts.
“An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course,” it added.
