United States First Lady Dr. Jill Biden on Sunday left Nairobi following a three-day official visit to the country, which was part of her five-day tour of Africa that also saw her visit Namibia.
Biden was seen off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by President Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and a host of both Kenyan and US officials.
During her three-day stay in Kenya, she held a series of meetings with women leaders and entrepreneurs.
On Saturday, Biden met a group of women in Kibra, where she lauded the table banking movement for enhancing financial inclusion for women in low-income areas.
Accompanied by her Kenyan counterpart Rachel Ruto, who has been spearheading table banking initiatives under her Joyful Women Organization, Jill said the movement had made communities and the country stronger.
“With every thriving business, with every scientific breakthrough, with every act of kindness — each of the amazing women I met today in Kenya is making their community and country stronger,” she said.
Speaking at State House, Jill indicated that her visit to Kenya was motivated by the need to listen and support women empowerment initiatives in the country.
“Women are the engine behind the community. When women earn money they invest it into the community, when women get the opportunities that they deserve, there is no limit to what they can do,” Jill stated.
In addition, the US first lady engaged partners working under the United States-funded President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, PEPFAR. She also met farmers using US-made tractors.
FLOTUS doesn’t make any…
FLOTUS doesn’t make any policies, why are these politicians including a sitting HOS walking around wasting time. I mean, no disrespect to FLOTUS but these senior officials have stuff that needs handles. Not seeing off a 1st lady. This should be his wife’s job.
