Solicitor General Nominee Shadrack Mose Says He is Worth Sh250 Million

President Ruto’s nominee for the position of Solicitor-General Shadrack John Mose says he is worth an estimated Sh250 million.

Appearing for vetting before the National Assembly Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC) on Thursday, Mose said the income is from rentals, land, and shares for his law firm.

Mose, a former MP for Kitutu Masaba, took the opportunity to outline his priorities once his nomination is approved. Top on his list is to ensure staff members in the State law office are well remunerated commensurate with the heavy workloads.

He also pledged rigorous training for the officers to boost their capacity to handle complex legal issues.

“I urge this committee to assist us in securing increased budgetary allocation to be able to equip the State Law Office and retain qualified, competent officers. This will also enable us to engage more state counsels, train them locally and internationally to boost their capacity in dealing with complex issues that may arise” he stated.

“Look at the registrar of marriages section, the environment is not conducive, the office and other sections are too squeezed. These are some of the issues I want to be addressed.”

JLAC is expected to table its report before March 9th to enable the House to consider the matter within the statutory timelines.

Mose holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, as well as a Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi.

He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 29 years of experience in legal practice.

If approved, Mose will replace Kennedy Ogeto who was appointed to the position in March 2018.
