The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has opened a probe into claims that the 2022 presidential election was rigged.

DCI director Amin Mohamed said the agency launched investigations after receiving numerous complaints regarding the election.

He pointed out that he is privy to claims alleging that there is an “official” copy of the presidential results to justify the complainants’ claims.

“Instructively, the complainants contend that there are various manipulations that point to documentary falsification and outright forgery of the subject documents,” Amin said in a statement.

He added: “Illustratively, they have pointed out various alleged irregularities including glaring inconsistencies in the watermarks featured in the forms labeled as 34B and which are being passed off as documents emanating from IEBC.”

Amin said detectives are investigating the validity and authenticity of the documents in question and whether offenses relating to forgery and falsification of documents have been committed under Sections 345-348 of the Penal Code.

The DCI has requested the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to present their certified Forms 34B used in declaring the presidential results to the DCI headquarters to aid in the probe.

“For the purpose of lawfully processing the complaints referred above in line with our mandate, we hereby request that you furnish us with the certified copies of Forms 34B that were used to tally, verify and declare the result of the presidential elections of 9th August 2022,” the statement adds.

This comes after Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga said he does not recognize William Ruto as Kenya’s president, claiming the election was rigged in his favor.

Odinga claimed that former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, CEO Marjan Hussein and two commissioners, Adi Guliye and Boya Molu, “formed a cartel within IEBC to cook their own results”.

“We demand that the Kenya Kwanza government resigns since it has neither the mandate nor the ability to govern the country,” said Odinga last week.

“We do not, and will not recognize the Kenya Kwanza regime and we consider the Kenya Kwanza government illegitimate,” he added.

Odinga spoke following a dossier by a purported IEBC whistleblower claiming that he defeated Ruto in the August 9th, 2022, presidential election.

Ruto was declared the president-elect after garnering 7,176,141 votes ahead of Odinga, who got 6,942,930 votes.

But the whistleblower claims Odinga won the election after garnering 8,170,355 votes ahead of Ruto who reportedly managed 5,919,973 votes.

DCI has more demanding job, than running after hot air. And if they must investigate, start with the Venezuelans, why were they released from DCI custody. The four IEBC clerks at Central Police, when will they be charged? Who killed the Embakasi returning office? These are DCI issues, but not Azimio propaganda machine.

Wafula Chebukati will be remembered for many, many years in Kenya as the IEBC Commissioner who permitted societal misfits to run for an elective public office contrary to Chapter 6 of the New Kenyan Constitution.

The DCI is hood winking Kenyans while knowing very well that Ruto stole the presidential election. Kenyans are not stupid and Idi Amin should not dare join a Ruto lie.
