Raila Wants Chebukati Charged with Crime Against Humanity at the ICC

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has welcomed President Ruto’s pledge to conduct a probe into the 2022 general election, including events at the national tallying centre before the declaration of the final presidential results.

Odinga said the probe into the August 9th, 2022 election should be genuine, insisting that Kenyans deserve to know the truth about what transpired.

“Juzi ulisikia wakisema wabunge upande ule ati uchunguzi ufanyike kuhusu Bomas of Kenya…mimi nasema alham dulilahi…wamechukua wale commissioners 4 ati wanashtakiwa walifanya maovu,” he said in Mombasa.

He defended the four IEBC commissioners Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang’aya who disowned the results of the presidential election, accusing Ruto’s administration of not being honest in its probe of the election.

Odinga instead blamed IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, claiming he bungled the election and should be charged at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

“Mpaka tusafishe takataka ya Chebukati, yale amefanya ni crime against humanity anafaa apelekwe Hague ashatakiwe huko….kama haitafanyika hakutakuwa na haja Wakenya 2027 waende uchaguzi,” he added.

At the same time, Odinga dismissed calls from a section of leaders to retire from politics, saying Kenyans want him to continue leading them.

“Wananiambia ati Raila aende Bondo…mimi nikitaka kwenda Bondo ninajua njia…lakini sio Ruto ndio ananipeleka Bondo, Wakenya wamesema Baba aendelee,” he said.
