Mount Kenya University has launched a new program in which Kenyans will be trained as healthcare assistants for German hospitals starting January 2023.
Dubbed the Certificate in Healthcare Assistant for German Hospitals, the 28-week program will be offered at the university’s main, Thika and Mombasa campuses through its affiliate Equip Africa Institute.
Upon completion, the graduates will be offered a guaranteed Nursing Apprenticeship in partnership with German hospitals, the university said.
“Candidates will be selected based on High School Grades, and German Language Skills and will be required to undergo an Aptitude Test,” Mount Kenya University said in a statement.
“Upon qualifying for the apprenticeship in Germany, students will enjoy the benefit of getting a student visa, salary and a guarantee of full-time employment after completing their training. For the training in Germany, students are not charged any tuition fee but are entitled to get a working contract for the training with a monthly salary to cater for the basic needs and accommodation.” added the university.
To join the program, one must have a C+ (plus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Educatįon (KCSE), German language level B2-proficiency (Zertifikat B2), and pass an Aptitude Test administered by the German partner organization.
“We are currently enrolling the student for January 2023 intake,” the university added.
On November 1st, the university enrolled 52 students for German Language A1 in partnership with German’s Hochschule Koblenz University of Applied Sciences.
The nursing profession is one of the sectors most heavily afflicted by the labor shortage in Germany, with studies forecasting a shortfall of up to 500,000 nurses by 2030.
Please you must call a spade…
Please you must call a spade a spade and not a spoon.Yaani university graduates will leave their dignity in Kenya to go polish a Germans
mkundu like it does not smell like that of a Kenyan all in the name of gaining full employment.Halafu lazima waisafishe na lugha ya kijerumani.Hata kama ni kutafuta hela woiye as Africans and Kenyans in particular we must expect better of ourselves. These jobs are done by high school dropouts. These so called developed countries are having a labor shortage because they opted to have pets and not children and then most are living beyond 75 and require help.If they must import labor they need to pay for it.They cannot look to Africa for cheap labor just as they came looking for raw materials to develop their industries a century ago.Africans awake instead of being the slave become the master.
@Guest Those will be…
@Guest Those will be certificate holders of the short nursing course. Anyway I agree they should be compensated adequately. We Africans are not slaves anymore for sure.
I didn’t Know that German…
I didn’t Know that German asses Could be Polished (like Shoes).
This is a new era. The West…
This is a new era. The West must not come a second time looking for slaves in the name of labor. Kenyans must be in the business of developing their languages and their country.
” TO SPEAK IS TO LIVE FOR ANOTHER”
The West must deal with their problems without involving “backward;uncivilized” Africans. And Africans must solve their own problems.
– Canada needs workers
– Germany needs workers
– US needs workers.
We are back to history and slavery.
By taking our people to their countries, this is exactly how the West underdeveloped Africa. Kenyans and Africans need to learn our history so we do not repeat it.
New era; New thinking.
Stupidity is doing the same thing expecting different results!!
I will repeat myself here…
I will repeat myself here. The western world are whores who we all know how nasty they are; but every man wants a piece of the a$$.
Early this week, I commented…
Early this week, I commented elsewhere that the world population just reached 8 billion persons, and India has now over taken China as the most populous nation in the world. However, my aim was to point out that while africa has 40% of its population being under 15 years old, the European countries have their” oldies” as the most. So Even if the oldies pass away, the youths are not replenishing the gap as quickly as needed. So the article here merely highlights some of the strategies employed to hedge against the unavoidable shortage of labor;particularly in the healthcare industry. It’s a situation where wazungu swallow their pride, and need africans. But dont be fooled and think that it is all driven altruistic love, shared values, and benevolence. It is a quid pro quo albeit, africans getting the short end of the stick in the name of offering cheap labor.
Folks remember what drove slave trade was a need for cheap labor. What is being employed now is neo-slave trade.Mzungu still does not see mwafrica as an equal.Just today a white teacher was suspended in a Texas school for telling students that his race is superior. While this to many may not be abroad brush painting to all whites, you cannot deny the fact that agood number share these sentiments and would not dare to publicly express them.
I dream of a day when, wazungus would flock to african countries not only for fun with african women, but for treatment, employment, and education. When that happens, the dream Martin Luther king had shall have been fulfilled ,and that is sitting on the table of brotherhood as equals.Till then, mwafrika is not yet a master. All shots are being called by the mzungu.
