Blogger Dennis Itumbi has refuted claims by anti-corruption crusader John Githongo that he hacked the IEBC server and manipulated presidential results in favor of president-elect William Ruto.
In a responding affidavit filed at the Supreme Court in the petition challenging Ruto’s victory in the August 9th presidential election, Itumbi stated that the UDA party only accessed the IEBC public portal and tallied results with forms received from its agents.
The UDA party digital strategist further denied claims that he worked with Ruto’s Chief Agent Davis Chirchir and others to manipulate presidential results.
He dismissed Githongo’s claims as a mere fabrication that is full of imagination to discredit the final presidential results.
“Githongo’s narration and whistle blower account is a fantasy and fictional story with shadowy imaginer characters and locations,” Itumbi submits.
Contrary to Githongo’s affidavit, Itumbi noted that the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza Alliance did not have a tallying centre in Karen and did not hire any computer scientists for any role.
Githongo, who is CEO of Inuka Kenya ni Sisi organization, claims that the results of the election were tainted by fraudulent activities in favor of Ruto, adding that he has evidence from a whistleblower that the results were fraudulently exaggerated, suppressed, and substituted.
He submits that on August 18th, he was introduced to a young man in Nairobi who said he had “a matter of national importance he wished to discuss.” The man who was “visibly tense and terrified” revealed the truth about how the 9th respondent (Ruto) won the election.
“He revealed to me utterly shocking details of how he together with others, were involved in a large scale, a well-orchestrated fraudulent scheme that enabled them to interfere with and compromise with the IEBC electoral data transmission system,” read part of his affidavit.
Githongo says the man admitted he was part of a team of 56 people known as “The Team” whose work was to alter Form 34As before sending them to the IEBC portal.
The whistleblower and nine others allegedly served as supervisors, while the remaining 46 were given access to the manipulating entries. Their work was to obtain Forms 34A from KIEMS kits, editing them, and uploading them to the IEBC portal.
Other supervisors included Dennis Itumbi, Morris Mutegi, Davis Chirchir, Jackson Kandi, Baby Serge, and Kibyegon, according to court documents.
Githongo alleges that the team had access to IEBC’s back-end servers which were working in tandem with Smartmatic, the UK-based company awarded the tender to provide technology for the election.
Githongo has been out of…
Githongo has been out of circulation for a while. Wonder what he’s been up to? He’s probably broke, fallen on hard times? Just curious.
