British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott has refuted claims that she and her country are backing specific candidates and political parties in the country’s elections.
In a statement on Monday, Marriott stated that the UK has maintained its neutrality in regard to Kenya’s political affairs, adding that they accept the outcome of the disputed presidential election.
“There has been a lot of misinformation circulating in the last few days about the UK & myself with regards to Kenya’s elections,” the diplomat said via Twitter.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I want to categorically reiterate that the UK does not support or have a view on any candidates or parties in elections. Who Kenyans elect is a matter for the people of Kenya.”
She further noted that “Kenya will remain a vital partner for the UK through our Strategic Partnership.”
“We meet people from across the political spectrum to explain the UK’s programmes and partnership with Kenya, including independent institutions. Kenya will remain a vital partner for the UK through our Strategic Partnership,” she said.
Mariott cited a joint International Community statement dated August 17th which Kenyans praised for maintaining peace and calm during the elections.
It also encouraged political leaders who were dissatisfied with the election results to pursue all legal avenues and mechanisms provided in Kenya’s constitution.

The colonial masters never…
The colonial masters never like to see black people make progress. We kick their asses for colonizing our country but they are still trying to meddle in our affairs. They want a thief for president so they can compromise him to betray the Kenyan people. We will not agree to be bought by some cunts. We should kick all of them out of kenya.
