Kalonzo Dispels Claims of Joining Ruto's Kenya Kwanza

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed claims that he is on the verge of joining president-elect William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Musyoka told journalists on Sunday that his focus at the moment is on the petition that the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition will file at the Supreme Court challenging Ruto’s victory in the August 9th presidential election.

“I think those are wishful thinkers and you know where we are going…. We are going straight to the Supreme Court,” Kalonzo said.

He spoke when he attended a church service at Jesus Teaching Ministry (JTM) in Donholm, Nairobi in the company of Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.

Musyoka faulted the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over the manner in which it conducted the election.

“I have vied for elections many times in our country, and I have never seen a situation where the body charged with the responsibility of conducting a General Election ends up short changing the whole country,” he said.

Ruto, who was declared the winner of the August 9th presidential election after garnering 7,176,141 (50.49 percent), has been wooing leaders allied to Azimio coalition into Kenya Kwanza camp.

On Saturday, the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party formally signed a post-election pact with Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Marsabit Governor-elect Muhammud Ali said the party and its leadership decided to join Kenya Kwanza as they want to be part of the alliance that forms the next government.

UDM party bagged seven MPs seats, two senators, two governors and 35 MCAs in the just-concluded general election and was part of the over 20 parties affiliated to the Raila Odinga-led Azimio coalition.

If the ruling goes Ruto, he will be the first to switch camps.
