Former Transport and Infrastructure Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti has been elected as the new governor of Machakos County.
Wavinya, who vied under the Wiper party, was declared the winner of the Machakos gubernatorial race after securing 226,609 votes, edging her closest rival Nzioka Waita of CCU party (129,181 votes).
Former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama (UDA party) emerged third with 37,980 votes followed by Francis Maliti (9,981 votes) and Rose Mulwa who collected 4,424 votes.
In the county’s senatorial race, Wiper’s Agnes Kavindu successfully defended her seat with 155,883 votes, defeating ODM candidate Urbanus Mutunga Muthama, who managed to get 65,606 votes.
In the Woman Representative race, Joyce Kamene Kasimbi of Wiper retained her seat after bagging 253,106 votes.
