The 2022 presidential debate will take place on July 26th at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa in Nairobi, the presidential debates secretariat has announced.
The head of the Presidential Debates Secretariat Clifford Machoka said the presidential debate will be preceded by the Deputy Presidential debate on July 19th and the Nairobi Gubernatorial debate on July 11th.
“The gubernatorial debate is in recognition of the central place held by devolution in our governance and the growing need to ensure greater accountability at the county level,” Machoka said in a statement on Monday.
The Nairobi gubernatorial debate will proceed in two tiers, with the first featuring candidates whose popularity ratings, based on three recent opinion polls, stand below 5 percent. The second tier will involve candidates who have polled above 5 percent in the same opinion surveys.
“The first debate will run from 6:00 pm and end at 7:30 pm while the second debate will go on air at 8:00 pm and end at 9:30 pm,” the secretariat added.
The first debate will be moderated by KBC’s Serfine Achieng’ and Ayub Abdikadir of K24 while KTN’s Zubeida Koome and Mark Maasai from NTV will moderate the second-tier debate.
Waihiga Mwaura from Citizen TV will mediate the two debates’ panel discussions.
The moderators shall select the questions to be asked to the candidates, and are barred from discussing the questions with the candidates or their campaign teams or meeting them before the debates commence.
The secretariat has promised to deliver an impartial, fair, and objective debate.
All debates shall be held at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa (CUEA) main campus in Karen, Nairobi, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
There are four presidential candidates in this year’s election including Mwaure Waihiga (Agano Party), Prof. George Wajackoyah (Roots Party), Raila Odinga (Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party), and William Ruto (United Democratic Alliance).

Let the truth come from Raila himself.
He should tell us when he graduated his primary school, what year and what school and the certificate he obtained; same for high school and same for college.
It is very difficult for the public to trust the ” good news” about Raila’s education. We will trust the “true” news that are verifiable.
