Residents of Karima Ward in Nyeri County are mourning the death of their Member of County Assembly (MCA) Reuben Wahome Kabera.
Wahome passed away on Monday at Mt Kenya Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness in the past two weeks.
The deceased had earlier been hospitalized at Outspan Hospital, Nyeri, for nine days before being transferred Mt Kenya.
“It is a sad day for Nyeri and Karima ward residents after our Karima MCA Reuben Wahome Kabera passed on while undergoing treatment at Mt Kenya Hospital,” Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga announced on Facebook.
Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia eulogized Wahome as a progressive politician whose transformative leadership will be dearly missed by residents of Karima Ward.
“He was a dedicated member who did his work so well. As the Chair of the committee on implementation, he did some very good reports that we always used as reference points in the house. He was generally and good guy and interacted so well with his colleagues,” said Kaguchia.
Wahome was defending his seat as an independent candidate after losing in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries to Gathung’wa Wamae.
