Rabai MP William Kamoti Killed in a Road Accident

Rabai MP William Kamoti has died in a road accident, hours after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) cleared him to defend his seat in the August 9th elections.

The accident occurred at Komaza black spot along the Kilifi-Mombasa Highway on Sunday evening, according to Kilifi North police commander Jonathan Koech.

Witnesses said that the MP’s vehicle was hit by a lorry at around 9:40 pm, killing him on the spot while his driver sustained injuries and was taken to Kilifi County Referral Hospital for treatment. MP Kamoti’s body was moved to the hospital’s mortuary.

“We were in contact with him as he presented his documents to IEBC today. The first responders at the scene said the (MP’s) vehicle rolled after it was hit by a truck. His death has hit us hard. Mr Kamoti was one of the most aggressive ODM leaders in Kilifi and it is a huge loss,” Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire told the Nation

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said “Kamoti will be remembered for his non-confrontational leadership style which saw him earn admiration from many people beyond his constituency. This enabled him to achieve a lot for the people of Rabai Constituency. As a county, we have lost a devoted and hardworking leader.”

ODM Party said: “It’s with shock and sadness that we as ODM have received the news of the untimely death of our MP for Rabai, Hon. William Kamoti, shortly after presenting his nomination papers to IEBC. We stand with the people of Rabai. Rest in Peace Hon. Kamoti.”

  1. The mention of a lorry…
The mention of a lorry should always raise suspicion. Even Bishop Muge was “killed” by a lorry aka political assassination..RIP
