Police in Nairobi are in pursuit of the suspects behind the killing of a Slovenian national.
Peter Virag, 56, was shot dead by suspected armed robbers along the busy Mombasa Road in Nairobi on Tuesday night.
The foreigner was heading home alongside his girlfriend and driver when the assailants accosted them and shot him in the chest. The three had spent time in an entertainment joint at Imara Mall, where they enjoyed some drinks.
The deceased’s girlfriend told police that they were headed to their house at Great Wall Apartments in Mlolongo and had just stopped on the service lane near Cabanas for the driver to hand over the car to Virag before leaving for his Embakasi home. The girlfriend excused herself for a short call.
Shortly after Virag occupied the driver’s seat, two armed thugs emerged from the darkness and commanded the deceased to surrender his phone and money. Virag reportedly declined to surrender the valuables and reached for his wallet then threw it into the back seat.
This angered the robbers and they shot him in the chest before reaching out for the deceased’s phone and wallet containing Sh86,000. They also grabbed the phones of both the driver and girlfriend and fled the scene.
Attempts by the driver and the girlfriend to resuscitate Virag were in vain. Police are yet to arrest any suspects in connection with the incident.
The ‘girlfriend’ knew he had…
The ‘girlfriend’ knew he had all that money and called the criminals. Driver possibly also in on it. Very easy case. But why the hell was he carrying so much cash???
The girlfriend excused…
The girlfriend excused herself for a short call then robbers emerged from the dark,ok. Food for thought
They smelled the beer pee…
They smelled the beer pee and knew it was time to cash in. Anyway man could have let it go and save his life
Why waste your life for kshs…
Why waste your life for kshs 86,000. When robbers accost you, in such a situation, just give them what they are asking for. No need to die for this material stuff. I wont trade my life for any kind of money. Never resist unless your life is in imminent danger.
I know Slovenia is poorer…
I know Slovenia is poorer than Kenya lakini was 86,000 schillings worth the life of our dear olde jolly fellow Peter Virag?
A setup, no question about…
A setup, no question about that. Certainly in tune with the current Kenya’s prevailing spousal-engineered murder for monetary gain trajectory currently “eating up” Kenya even as we speak.
The greatest tragedy however is that the driver of this vice gets its oxygen from a corrupt system that literally looks the other way every single time this happens. Engineers of such crimes being set free ” on technical grounds.”
Problem is that this vice has been watered and nurtured to a point where in Kenya today brother / sister has turned against each other in the name of greed.I am sure you the reader has been touched by this menace somehow in your life.
All those who benefit from such spoils should be ashamed of themselves.
And by the way where is leadership on such tragedies.
Where are the “waeshimiwas’
