Popular comedian Jasper Muthomi, alias MC Jessy, has ditched Deputy President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Through his social media pages on Monday, Muthomi announced he is still in the race for the Imenti South MP seat and will vie as an independent candidate.
“Sent like an arrow from a mighty man’s hand. We keep going…Bado Tuko kwa race. Let’s do this South Imenti, 9th August it is,” he wrote.
“Thank you my Boss HE The Deputy President Dr. William Ruto for your counsel, My support For you remains Intact!!!!”
The move comes barely a week after Ruto announced that the comedian had shelved his bid for the Imenti South parliamentary seat.
Ruto said Muthomi stepped down from the race in favor of his competitor Mwiti Kathaara and would take up a role in his presidential campaign team.
“MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favor of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat,” Ruto said in a statement posted on Twitter.
The comedian launched his bid for the seat on January 19th, seeking to replace incumbent South Imenti MP Kathuri Murungi, who was first elected in 2013.
“It’s now clear where the vision is heading. After many days of consultative meetings with my South Imenti people, I have officially been invited to join UDA. The groundwork that has been done has finally landed on the side of the winning team,” Muthomi announced at the time.
I told you guys it was all…
I told you guys it was all about publicity
Very nice! Kenyans failed to…
Very nice! Kenyans failed to understand why you had to join a thief WSR to run for a political office. Your people will still not vote for you for committing the crime of joining UDAku, a party made of those who have excessively stolen from poor Kenyans. You will still lose no matter how you contest.
Fake Rono, Mc hasn’t ditched…
Fake Rono, Mc hasn’t ditched the party as the headline misleads. Al he has done is run independent but still under cover of UDA.
Humble yourself and go see…
Humble yourself and go see Churchill humbly ask for your job back.It is called lack of foresight you thought an instragram and Facebook following was the same as voters. You have much to learn you either have deep pockets in politics or latch on to someone else who has it.In politics you have to pay to play and these days voters have wisened up collect the “goodies”and still vote for your candidate.Import your Facebook followers to the polling station maybe then you will win or just steal votes.
