The Jubilee Party has given Bishop David Gakuyo a direct ticket to contest for Thika Town parliamentary seat in the August 9th elections.
Gakuyo will face off with former area MP Alice Ng’ang’a, who bagged the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
Ng’ang’a, who is seeking to recapture the seat in the forthcoming elections, was issued the UDA ticket after her competitors withdrew from the race.
The ruling party similarly gave Aloise Kinyanjui, the brother of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, a ticket to run for the Juja constituency seat.
Kinyanjui, who recently ditched his brother’s Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party, will square it out with incumbent Juja MP George Koimburi, who is defending his seat through the UDA party.
Koimburi won the UDA ticket in the just-concluded nominations after garnering 6,790 votes, defeating his closest rival Prof. Joseph Kang’ethe alias Mustard, who got 4,257 votes.
Jubilee’s National Elections Board (NEB) chair Stephen Wandeto also handed Taita Taveta County Governor Granton Samboja a nomination certificate to defend his seat.
Other candidates who have been given nomination tickets by the President Kenyatta-led party include Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, her Voi counterpart Jones Mlolwa, Woman Representative aspirant Joyce Lay, and a host of sitting and aspiring MCAs.
