Blogger Robert Alai Quits MP Race to Vie for Kileleshwa MCA Seat

Popular Nairobi-based blogger Robert Alai has joined the race for the Kileleshwa MCA seat in the August 9th elections.

Alai, who had previously declared interest in the Nyando parliamentary seat, announced he will contest for the Kileleshwa Ward Representative seat on an ODM party ticket.

“I have lived in Kileleshwa for the last four years and with that, I understand the needs of the poor as well as the middle class and the rich. We need to give everyone a unique space and not discriminate,” Alai told a local news outlet.

The blogger, who holds a degree in computer science, had released a six-point plan for the Nyando constituency.

He had pledged to prioritize education and ICT, health and agriculture, arts, sports, the creative economy infrastructure, and security if elected as the area MP.

The Kileleshwa MCA seat is currently held by Elias Okumu, who was elected in 2013 on an ODM party ticket. Okumu also serves as the minority leader in the Nairobi County assembly.

Gone from mulika mwizi to mwizi. Why do former journalists bloggers and lately singers and entertainers think because they have a following on social media they can make it in politics. That is why we will continue to have petty fights in parliament as witnessed between babu owino and jaguar whatever his real name is.These jokers are all in parliament for themselves while it is good for the youth to seek leadership positions we do not need clowns and rouble rousers.
