Mutua Pledges Sh1 Million Gift to Newlyweds if Elected President in 2022

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua says newlyweds will get cheap loans of between Sh500,000 to Sh1 million if he is elected president next year.

Speaking during the unveiling of his 13-pillar presidential manifesto on Sunday, the two-time governor said the loan will be a gift to new couples to enable them to build homes.

“Newlyweds will receive an initial capital from my government of Sh500,000 to Sh1 Million in kind, payable over 20 years at an interest rate of 0.5 percent as a gift from the government to invest in their new home and entrench the family institution,” said Mutua.

He added: “What is the effect of all this? Dignity for all of us, improvement of the living standards and quality of homes countrywide and no more mud houses.”

Further to this, Mutua promised to eradicate poverty and invest heavily in youth development through the creation of a conducive business environment.

His administration, Mutua says, will create five million jobs in the first three years by offering tax holidays of up to five percent to enterprises that hire 10 percent or more youth at entry-level as well as 50 percent tax reliefs for youth-owned businesses.

“Kenya has the capacity of producing goods for sale in all African nations. It will be the manufacturing hub of Africa. This will generate directly and indirectly two million jobs within two years,” he said.

Mutua, who is the leader of the Maendeleo Chap Chap party, also pledged to do away with duties and taxes on filming equipment, locations, and crew as a way of promoting the local creative industry.

In addition, Mutua said he will implement 100 percent government-funded healthcare for all citizens, citing the successful implementation of the Universal Health Coverage in Machakos County. He also pledged to carry out reforms in education, infrastructure, security, social welfare, sports, and tourism.

“It is now time for a new generation to take over and transform this country from being theirs to ours. It is time to include the majority of this country in leadership, and that is the youth,” Mutua stated.

Some points make sense (productivity and exports), but loans are always a hot potato. Kenyans should demand to know how these politicians will generate the revenue to fund all these pet projects (weddings-Mutua, wheelbarrows-Ruto, allowances-Odinga etc).

  6. Most of these fringe outfits…
Most of these fringe outfits calling themselves political parties are nothing but tools owned by individual politicians for negotiating with heavy weights such as Raila for positions in a new administration. Does anyone really think parties associated with the likes of Moses Kuria, Mwangi Kiunjuri, Charity Ngilu, Moses Wetangula, Ferdinand Waitutu, or even Mama Pima Anyango have any political sway outside their immediate families?
