The office of the Deputy President has dispelled reports that security officers attached to his residences were being denied food.
In a letter dated November 11th, Internal Security Secretary Wilson Njenga requested the deputy president’s office to either provide food to the officers or allocate them food allowances.
Njenga observed that the previous team of GSU officers that was withdrawn from the deputy president’s residences was offered meals consistently but that has not been the case with the new security detail.
“This is to bring to your attention that the above officers have not been consistently provided with food rations or meal allowances to enable them to discharge their mandate effectively and efficiently.”
“This is in contrast to their counterparts from GSU whom they replaced and who used to get food rations. The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to request that you reinstate the food rations for the officers currently deployed in the two residences for optimal service delivery,” the letter reads.
But in a statement, Deputy President William Ruto’s Communication Secretary David Mugonyi dismissed the reports, stating that the officers are well fed.
“We have provided them with food. The only complaint I am aware of are delays to pay their allowances. The officers are under the office of the Inspector General of Police. Their welfare is catered for by that office. Even the GSU were under the IG,” Mugonyi stated.
Bigwigs’ bodyguards in Kenya…
Bigwigs’ bodyguards in Kenya have been Starved since Jomo Kenyatta’s era. It even got Worse during Moi’s presidency; no promised Allowances; no everything.
IG Nzioki should explain why…
IG Nzioki should explain why USELESS expired murderer Kamau Muigai’s corpse is always under 24 hour guard per day for 43 years now while Laikipians are being slaughtered like rats due to insecurity? It should be removed there and thrown to Indian Ocean.I have been wondering and asking why and how a gangster/person with bodyguards also dies without an answer. Some time ago,I posed the same question to a sitting Kenyan MP but he had no answer. The same response from various policemen themselves. Will majambazi Ruto,Muigai,Mumbi,Ngilu, wauaji Joho,Wanjiru,Raila etc die yet they have 24 hour guard?
I agree with you. The…
I agree with you. The government is overstretching the resources it lacks to protect a 43 year old dead body which has no current value for the Kenyans.
The MPs on the other hand have nothing of value for their constituencies since they spend most of their time complaining about tea in parliament and busy naming roads to individuals.
