Amsterdam-Bound Kenya Airways Flight Loses Communication While Flying over Germany

An investigation has been launched after a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight en route to the Netherlands lost communication while flying over Germany.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight registration number KQ118 was headed to Amsterdam from Nairobi when it temporarily lost contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC) at around 6:00 am Germany time on September 20th.

“Pilots were able to re-establish communications using an alternative frequency and continued with the flight as normal, safely landing on schedule in Amsterdam,” Kenya Airways said in a statement on Saturday.

KQ explained that the incident is not uncommon in aviation as aircraft may occasionally lose contact with ATC for a variety of reasons including power failure when flying in a zone with poor reception or missed a frequency change.

“KQ and the ATC in these jurisdictions are conducting investigations on the incident to determine the cause and take corrective action,” KQ said.

It added: “We would like to assure our customers that their safety and our crew is our highest priority.”

Better to avoid panic by those readers likely to think that plane crashed!

Thanks for informative articles anyways! Just fix headlines well for such sensitive pieces
