DCI Detectives Arrest Suspected Serial Fraudster Involved in Sale of Hired Cars

Suspected serial fraudster Eunice Lewa Kimondiu, alias Agnes Mutheu, has been arrested. 

Eunice, who is accused of involvement in the fraudulent sale of hired motor vehicles, was apprehended by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Sunday.

The 33-year-old Kahawa Sukari resident was arrested in Gatundu, Kiambu County where she was allegedly planning to sell a Toyota Wish registration number KCF 263A previously hired from Kitale.

Unbeknown to her, the interested buyer had accompanied a female friend to Kiambu DCI offices on July 15th to report a case of fraud where the suspect (Eunice) sold to her a hired Toyota Axio KCW 623B using forged documents.

The vehicle was towed from a carwash in Ruaka shortly after the victim paid the agreed amount of Sh630,000. This was after the responsible car hire agency reported to police a stolen hired car, which detectives tracked to the carwash and confirmed that it was on hire from Nakuru.

After getting wind of the suspicious business on Sunday, Kiambu DCI head dispatched undercover detectives to accompany the buyer. The undercover detectives arrested the suspect, who appeared confidently armed with forged documents of the Toyota Wish.

Eunice is being held at Kiambu police awaiting arraignment as the police pursue other members of her syndicate.
