Renowned Kenyan scholar and educationist Prof. Richard Musangi has passed away.
Musangi, who was the Chancellor of the University of Kabianga, died on Saturday aged 87.
The deceased served as a lecturer at Makerere University in Uganda and later at the University of Nairobi where he rose to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor. He was also the first Vice-Chancellor of Egerton University.
Prof. Musangi is the father to lawyer Andrew Musangi and father-in-law to businesswoman Maryanne Kirubi, the daughter of the late Kenyan tycoon Chris Kirubi, who died in June.
ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula are among the leaders who mourned the death of Musangi.
Wetang’ula eulogized the deceased as “a doyen of academia, an accomplished administrator and a passionate patriot.”
Mudavadi, on his part, said, “He is remembered as a renowned educationist, scholar, and accomplished administrator. May God comfort and guide the family at this time of mourning.”
May his soul rest in eternal…
