A senior Kenyan immigration officer died after unknown gunmen attacked him on Sunday.
Reports indicate that Philip Sitienei was on a morning run along the Lokichoggio–Nadapal highway in Turkana West when he was shot dead.
Confirming the 7:30 am incident, Assistant County Commissioner Kennedy Omollo said the 43-year-old died of multiple gunshot wounds on the head, shoulder, and leg.
“The deceased was murdered after assailants ambushed him and shot him several times. We have launched an investigation into the incident,” Omollo said.
Omollo believes the deceased was executed by highly-trained hitmen, who had prior knowledge of his movements.
“Why would the assailant shoot him and collect the spent cartridges at the scene?” he posed.
The police head said Sitienei was attacked by two assailants if footprints at the scene are anything to go by.
Detectives recovered one spent cartridge at the crime scene, about two kilometers from Lokichoggio town.
A motorist found his body lying on the road about a kilometer from a military camp.
Police officers rushed to the scene and found the body in a pool of blood and was moved to Lodwar County Referral Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
In a statement, the National Police Service said, “We condemn this heinous act with the strongest words possible. No stone will be left unturned until we get the killers of the Civil Servant.”

RIP. Mr Sitienei. Is someone…
RIP. Mr Sitienei. Is someone looking to corrupt Kenya’s immigration department? Who is working to get Kenya’s papers.
All corruption will be reversed when time is right and all papers acquired by illegal means will be reversed. Those who have received fake papers in the past; or those who will receive them in the future are bound to loose them when the country reverts to its its rightful owners. ” Ee mungu nguvu yetu”. Our blessing is not the sword or the gun. The gun blessing has its owners.
Time for revelation and restoration.
The darkest hour of the night is just before dawn. ( This is where we are in Kenya).
