Kenyan Gov’t Gives International Tourists Until Monday Mid-Day to Leave the Country via Nairobi

The government has given tourists seeking to travel back home via Nairobi until Monday noon to do so.

In a joint statement, the Tourism Ministry, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), and Kenya Railways said this applies to both domestic and international tourists, who are currently in different parts of the country.

The move comes after President Kenyatta ordered a cessation of movement into and out of the One Zoned Area comprising Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Machakos, and Kajiado counties to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The government noted that domestic flights will cease operating on March 29th, meaning those on transit into Kenya and are planning to visit sites outside Nairobi risk being confined in the capital.

Travelers arriving in Kenya from abroad will be required to produce a negative COVID-19 certificate obtained 96 hours before arrival.

While those in the One Zoned Area can move freely within the five counties, they are not allowed to visit the remaining 42 counties but they can travel abroad.

  1. When covid 19 got serious…
When covid 19 got serious attention in Kenya was in February.Just about everywhere you went in Nairobi people observed the covid 19 control restriction.Even Matatus had an empty space between passengers.
First forward to October, and you see all the restrictions we being ignored.Matatus plying Webuye,Eldoret Kakamega routes were back to overcrowding again.
Uhuru had relented to business pressures, but he warned wananchi about and told them to keep the restrictions in place, but they were ontheir own. Bad mistake. The spike in recent months is a response to that”you are on your own decree”.
This time I hope there will be no relenting till all pertinent authorities give the go ahead sign.
Since the olympics are still going to be held in July-August,we can only hope that their will be time enough for preparation. If not,hey safety is more important than games. There is always a next time.

Ihuru/Nderi(Vulture)should go a step further and purchase musks for all soko(open market) traders and customers including markets like Marigiti,Gikomba,Wangige etc in those areas. They don’t need a budget. He should be sparing just shs 1 or 2m of the shs 2b. daily loot. These rural Kenyans should also DEMAND not REQUEST that they be provided the musks from the three(shs 140b,shs 78b & shs 79b) COVID loans Ihuru has taken.Wacheni kupebeleza mwizi Ihuru.Ati naiomba zelikali yetu inizaidia.Ikusaindie na nini na ni peas yako?

This is a careless and very misleading article. The Government spokesman has clarified that International tourists are free to visit attractions within the containment zone. He even called on them not to cancel their bookings, since they can also access attractions outside the containment zone using charter flights.

Nime changanyikiwa na habari hizi uchumi wa Nchi ya Kenya umefifia kwa muda sasa madeni yatalipwa na nini kama sekta ya utalii imefungwa Nchi itapigwa mnada na wachina

  5. Waaa! that headline. OK I…
Waaa! that headline. OK I know this is almost a month ago, but it gave me nostalgia when african leaders gave decrees okonkwo style- act first(fast), think later.Oh and you had to fuata directive. No senseless court sideshows, fake comittees etc.
I was tempted the headline may say “tourists… and all foreign (exploiters) investors”.(Am allowed to dream). Perhaps Uhuru finally sobered up and just checked out of his rehab facility and realized his presidency ends in 2 years and wants to leave a wakanda legacy. This BTW is how it was when Idi Amin Dada announced all wahindi who refused to punguza govt bei controls had to go. A print edition came out and i think it was 48 hours or a week deadline. Too bad he decided to attack TZ, but he had gotten away with a lot and till this day every israeli knows about the raid in Entebbe. He was no puppet unlike 90% of the prezos in East Africa.
