Kenya’s two largest airports have been awarded for their excellence in customer service.
The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Moi International Airport (MIA) were feted by the Airports Council International (ACI) on Monday.
JKIA bagged the 2020 ‘Best Airport by Size and Region’ award in the five to 15 million passengers annually in Africa category while MIA won the ‘2020 Best Airport by Size and Region’ award under the two million passengers per year in Africa.
JKIA and MIA were awarded after ACI’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey. ASQ is a leading airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking program in the world.
The survey captured travelers’ experience at all airport passenger contact points in over 300 airports around the world.
“I congratulate Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) on the success in the Airport Service Quality Awards which represent the highest possible accolade for airport operators around the world on customer experience,” said ACI World Director-General Luis Felipe de Oliveira.
“During this most difficult and challenging of years, customers have spoken and recognized the successful efforts of the team at KAA in providing a superior customer experience under trying circumstances.”
KAA Managing-Director Alex Gitari said the awards are timely, coming at a time when the two airports are under rehabilitation to improve on customer experience.
“Winning these awards is a reaffirmation of our commitment to providing our customers with a stress-free travel experience. We are truly excited and encouraged by these prestigious awards which herald a new horizon in our customer satisfaction journey across our airports,” Gitari said.
About time.I can attest to…
About time.I can attest to this improved customer service, after passing through JKIA last month. We are not quite there yet,but we have made great strides.
I remember the rampant corrupt, and airport police demanding bribes at the baggage carousel, and rude ticket attendants. Not to mention police taking whatever they wanted from your luggage.Yes,shameful past. I hope that its behind us now.
