Fear as Robbers Attempt to Steal Funeral Funds for Four Family Members Brutally Killed in Kiambu

Relatives of four family members who were killed in cold blood in Kiambu have asked the government to provide them with security.

This comes after robbers allegedly attempted to invade their home on Thursday night with an intention of stealing funeral contributions.

Allan Warunge, a brother to Nicholas Njoroge, a US-based nurse who was murdered alongside his wife, son, and nephew, said they fear they could be attacked even before they bury their kin.

“I was alerted by the security guards at midnight that there were two people who wanted to open the gate. That is when I informed the area chief who called the police,” Warunge said, adding that the family has been having sleepless nights over fears that robbers could return to the homestead.

He indicated that a security guard stopped a break-in attempt by two suspected robbers who were trying to open the gate at night.

Kiambaa OCPD Muchiri Nyaga said that the thugs were targeting to steal funeral funds.

22-year-old Lawrence Simon Warunge, the eldest son of Njoroge, is the prime suspect in the macabre killings.

The Mt. Kenya University IT student confessed to killing his father, mother Ann Wanjiku, his brother Christian Njenga, cousin Maxwell Njenga, and the family’s farmhand James Kinyanjui.

The five were murdered on the night of January 5th in Karura village, Kiambaa, Kiambu County.

Following his arrest, Lawrence led police to Mai Mahiu where he had disposed of the murder weapons and the clothes he wore during the massacre.

A Kiambu court allowed police to detain him together with his girlfriend, Sarah Muthoni for 14 days pending the completion of investigations.

    @ Liz Gaki:
