Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have rescued two children at the Busia border while being trafficked to neighboring Uganda.
The two minors aged eight and four had been stolen from their home in Nairobi’s Buruburu estate on Saturday after their parents left them under the care of house help and traveled to Meru for a burial.
The DCI said the housemaid identified as Scovia Namataka, 32, was tracked and traced to Busia where she was arrested inside a bus traveling to Uganda with the two kids.
“Coordinated efforts between Buru Buru’s detectives and their counterparts at Busia border led to the interception of the suspect with the minors,” the DCI said.
Police believe Namataka was working with accomplices locally and in Uganda where she was taking the minors.
Detectives have opened investigations seeking to arrest other suspects involved in the child trafficking syndicate.
Namataka has been placed under police custody pending arraignment in court on Monday.
… wasn’t there a video of…
… wasn’t there a video of a Ugandan housegirl stomping on a baby a few years ago? I recoiled from the video, and I was glad when I learned that it was not from Kenya. Mistreating of Children seems to be a Ugandan thing.
