Mombasa County Assembly has suspended sittings for two weeks after three MCAs and one member of staff contracted Covid-19.
The temporary closure will allow MCAs and support staff to proceed on self-isolation for a period of 14 days during which the premises will also be fumigated, Deputy Speaker Fadhili Makarani said on Tuesday.
All MCAs and assembly employees were tested after one of them was diagnosed with the disease that has so far infected nearly 50,000 people in the country and killed 920.
Fadhili did not disclose the identity of the three persons who tested positive for the illness.
The Health Ministry has warned that the country could be staring at the second wave of Covid-19 whose severity will be more lethal.
As of Monday, Kenya had recorded a total of 49,997 cases, 920 deaths, and 34,429 recoveries.
