Police in Machokos County have foiled a child trafficking deal where a woman was seeking to sell her two-week-old son for Sh60,000.
The operation carried out in Mlolongo area on Friday led to the arrest of two female suspects including the child’s mother, Diana Mwende, 21.
Mlolongo Assistant County Commissioner, Dennis Ongaga said police laid a trap for the two women after receiving a tip-off from members of the public.
The two suspects were caught red-handed after several officers posed as customers who wanted to buy the infant.
The two were booked to Mlolongo police station pending further investigations into the matter while the baby boy was handed over to a rescue center in Kitengela.
Initial investigations revealed that the child-trafficking syndicate recruit girls below the age of 18 and ask them to pose as house helps, where they then abduct kids.
This is really sad. That…
This is really sad. That mothers in Uhuru’s Kenya are selling their dear children. Nowhere else in the world do you see mothers selling their children.
Does BBI have anything to say about this? No but the constitution that is yet to be fully implemented does.
I think this woman who is…
I think this woman who is very young needs help – psychological, spiritual and educational. Let us not judge. She does not belong in jail where she will get more abuse and no help.
It is better to sell or…
It is better to sell or donate the baby(if you have no means of raising) to those unfortunate but can afford to bring him(her) up than abort.
