Four Kenyans Charged for Receiving Sh55 Million from Abroad Through MPesa

Four Kenyan nationals were on Tuesday arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly receiving over Sh50 million from unidentified people abroad.

The four, Warsame Abdi, Adan Noor, Ibrahim Mohammed, and Mohammed Hussein, are said to have received a total of Sh55 million from people in South Africa through MPesa.

The court heard that the four accused persons received the money together with others not present in court on diverse dates between January 1st, 2019, and August 31st, 2019. The charge sheet read that the millions were wired to 13 Safaricom Sim Cards that were all registered.

The four were charged with the offense of acquisition of proceeds of crime with the prosecution asking the court not to grant them bail citing the seriousness of the offense. Nairobi Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot rejected the prosecution’s request and freed the four on cash bail of Sh100,000 or Sh1 million bond each.

Judge wewe ni bure sana, if they disappear hence the case will disappear or use police to hunt for them instead of taking care of other issues, if they are threat to security then keep them and finish investigations quickly, if innocent then free them. But the story of cathing them, releasing them dont add up at all

The magistrate is adhering to the constitution; the accusations are mere allegations until proven guilty in the court of law. Every citizen deserve to be heard; can’t hold someone hostage for more than 24 hrs if they are able to post bail. It’s the law that some courts often violate. Kenyan politicians are the most corrupt stealing our own money and none has been jailed or held accountable- double standards expected here? At least these is allegedly foreign crime money; not Kenyans’ money.

Give us more information not just they are somalis.it could be money from their business. The police in Kenya need education on investigations so they do not stereotype some communities.

  4. Pole mafala waKenya for…
Pole mafala waKenya for saying YES to a poop/trash constitution which gave murderers and other CAPITAL offenders more rights than their victims. Why blame the magistrate/judge for interpreting the useless laws? The other day I heard so many Kenyans accusing Maraga, the head of MARAGA GANG about the good advice to your thug president.Maraga interpreted the constitution you blindly passed in 2010.None of the foolish Kenyans blaming Maraga gave a clue on how 1/3 gender rule will be implemented.Amending the katiba to remove the 1/3 gender rule is the only way solving that issue.
