Two Hotel Workers Charged for Leaking CCTV Footage of Uhuru, Raila Night Tour in Nairobi CBD

Two people accused of leaking CCTV footage showing President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga driving into Nairobi CBD have been arraigned in court.

The two, Patrick Rading Ambogo and Magoma Ayonga, were on Wednesday charged with unauthorized interception of computer data in contravention with section 17(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act.

The charge sheet reads that the accused persons – both employees of Stanley Hotel in Nairobi – intercepted a security CCTV footage capturing Uhuru’s entourage along Kenyatta avenue.

They are said to have committed the offense on June 2nd, 2020 at around 8 pm. The two denied the charge leveled against them and were released on a cash bail of Sh10,000 or Sh30,000 bond each.

Their, lawyer Danstan Omari, dismissed the charge pressed against his clients, saying the alleged offence does not exist in law.

“This alleged offense of intercepting a security CCTV does not exist in law. Our clients were never in State House and have never gone to any government installation to capture CCTV footage of government,” The lawyer told the court.

The two have asked the prosecution to supply them with witness statements including those of Kenyatta and Odinga.

Kenyatta and Odinga had driven to the city center to inspect development projects being undertaken by the newly-formed Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS).

What non sense is this? What harm does this do to society. Uhuru needs to stop trying to out do his father in colonial mindedness otherwise known as colonial mentality.
