Law Society of Kenya Moves to Expel Attorney-General Paul Kihara

Attorney-General Paul Kihara and Solicitor-General Kennedy Ogeto are staring at possible expulsion from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

LSK indicated it will move a motion on June 23rd seeking to have the two removed as members of the society.

Kihara and Ogeto are accused of failing to gazette lawyers as essential service providers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, LSK wants the two expelled for failing to advise President Kenyatta to appoint the 41 judges recommended to him by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

They have been given seven days from Friday to file responses to the allegations leveled against them.

The matter will be heard at the Ordinary General Meeting of the LSK, where a decision on whether or not to expel the two from LSK will be made.

LSK President Nelson Havi said the actions of the two have brought ridicule, shame, disrepute, and dishonor to the lawyers’ body.

“Their conduct is so gross that it warrants their expulsion from the Law Society of Kenya,” Havi said, adding that AG Kihara misled the president into disobeying court orders requiring him to appoint the 41 judges.

“Kihara categorically stated that the 41 judges will not be sworn-in notwithstanding the decree of the High Court which has not been set aside or stayed. Kihara being the AG and a commissioner of the JSC sat through and participated in the interviews of the 41 judges,” he added.

  1. The rogue lawyers and judges…
The rogue lawyers and judges will do anything to expel those who fail to support their fellow thieves. These crooks are merely thinking more about their fat bellies than any ordinary Kenyans. This is a bunch of cartel members whose main goal is to strengthen systemic corruption by appointing the most corrupt of them all into the courts! Enough is enough and Kenyans should reject them.

  2. Kihara and Ogeto are accused…
Kihara and Ogeto are accused of failing to gazette lawyers as essential service providers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Can JSC eplain to us what is so essential to have lawyers gazetted as essential considering that the court business was curtailed and movement of people restricted. JSC can also explaian to us why a basic case lasts for ever in court even when it is a clear cut case. Can JSC tell us what they are doing to eliminate corruption in the judicial system.

    • I too find it interesting…
I too find it interesting that a bunch of lawyers interested in how their pockets are impacted are using the term”impeachment “ . Is law society a recognized branch of the legislative to impeach?

Kihara is incompetent.A walking talking disaster.

He thinks speaking English with a British accent makes him intelligent.

Uhuru Kenyatta is just government employee living in government housing and abusing the powers of the office.

  4. There is a lot nonsense…
There is a lot nonsense going on with this Maraga judiciary. Judges are staying home during the coronavirus lockdown. Why does Maraga want the tax payers to pay judges who are not working? Highway Robert to the people of Kenya from the judiciary is well and alive! Let us have a CJ who understands basic economics. Maraga can’t even speak to safe his own life! Kubafu yeye!

  5. These lawyers are nothing…
These lawyers are nothing special as they would wish the public to hold them in high exhortation.

The subject matter of law is just a basic study of history lessons concerted with a fair amount of English literature.

These are the most basic academic disciplines one can ever undertake in life! No wonder Maraga and Havi are not clearly versed with the true realities of life.

So, impeaching Maraga bonds well with the true values of public demand!

  6. LSK believes that its…
LSK believes that its Members have a Right to Con Kenyans, and Members who don’t share this belief should go. Paul Kihara and Kennedy Ogeto should leave LSK, for not towing the unspoken Code of Conduct… The Legal Profession in Kenya have a Right to Con Kenyans. Period. Obey them. They alone have the powers to interpret the Constitution, even if it is to their own benefit. If you don’t like it, go to hell. Kenya iko na Wenyewe.
