Kenya has discharged 97 Covid-19 patients from the hospital, marking the largest number of recoveries recorded in the country in a single day.
The 97 people were released from various health facilities across the country on Monday, raising the total number of Covid-19 recoveries to 849.
The Health Ministry also announced 95 more people tested positive for Covid-19 since the last update on Sunday. There is now a total of 2,862 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya.
57 of the new cases are males while 38 are females with their ages ranging from one and 72 years. They include 92 Kenyans and 3 foreign nationals.
Mombasa recorded the highest number of infections with 56, followed by Nairobi (13), Busia (10), Kajiado (6), and Kilifi (3). Kitui, Kwale, Garissa, and Marsabit confirmed one case each.
At the same time, one patient succumbed to Covid-19 bringing the death toll from the virus to 85.
The Ministry of Health has attributed the rising number of Cvid-19 infections to targeted testing.
